Live Tweeting Dancing With The Stars

Writer: baileyellingsen8baileyellingsen8

Starting the night, I didn’t know what to expect once 7:00pm came. Abigail Newcomb, Chloe Treible, and I (Bailey Ellingsen) met up and settled in for an exciting 31st season of Dancing With The Stars! There were some names we were familiar with- i.e. Charli D'amelio, Teresa Giudice, and Jason Lewis. Many of the other stars were new to us. One of the main aspects of the watch party that I appreciate is the setup and aesthetic of the living room we watched in. There was a fall aroma with fairy lights, an Autumn sign, and a sandalwood scented candle. The atmosphere was quite cozy and we even had a watch partner who was the star of many live tweets- Ferguson! This is Abigail’s cat who was quite invested in the scoreboard, dancing, and loud cheering happening around him.

The costumes that were worn were quite visually appealing and I don’t understand how there were no outfit malfunctions. How does one wear a tiny, low cut, tassel dress and not show some accidental skin? I also learned that the judges were really quite critical with their scoring this season. Nobody received over an 8! I thought there were a few stars who deserved that score. One star who deserved 9’s in my opinion was Daniel Durant. He was a deaf dancer that went with the “feel” of the music. His dancing was immaculate with no mess ups either! I am still stunned and I think that celebrity will always stand out to me now.

There were a variety of takeaways I had throughout the entire Live Tweeting experience. One of them was how adaptable I can be with new applications! I had not used twitter until tonight and I had it down in a matter of minutes. Another takeaway is how fun Live Tweeting can be with the right people! There were random connections we made with others watching the show and it was exciting to see how we can connect through something as simple as sending a thought into the internet. This assignment made me appreciate the technology we have today while also still being able to form closer human connections through quality in-person time.
